Bangladesh vs Afghanistan: Dharamsala, October 7, 2023: Bangladesh got their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign off to a flying start, thrashing Afghanistan by 6 wickets in their opening match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday.

Opting to bat first, Afghanistan were bowled out for a paltry 156 in 37.2 overs. Only Rahmanullah Gurbaz (47) and Ibrahim Zadran (22) could make some notable contributions with the bat, as Bangladesh bowlers ran through the Afghan batting lineup. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up three wickets each, while Shoriful Islam took two.

In reply, Bangladesh chased down the target quite comfortably, losing just four wickets along the way. Mehidy Hasan Miraz (57) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (59) starred with the bat for Bangladesh, putting on a crucial 100-run partnership for the third wicket.
