Proteas Fight back after lost two ODI against Australia


The Proteas put on a clinical performance to beat Australia by 111 runs in the third ODI at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Tuesday.

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl, and South Africa made a solid start, with Aiden Markram scoring 102 not out. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs, and were eventually bowled out for 338.

Australia got off to a good start in the chase, with David Warner and Travis Head putting on 79 runs for the first wicket. However, the Proteas bowlers struck back in the middle overs, and the visitors were eventually bowled out for 227.


The win was South Africa’s first of the series, and now this series at 2-1. The fourth ODI will be played at the SuperSport Park, Centurion on Friday.

The Proteas’ bowlers were the stars of the show, with Keshav Maharaj taking 2 for 37 and Tabraiz Shamsi taking 2 for 29. But
Gerald Coetzee highest wicket taker 4 for 50.

For Australia, Warner top-scored with 78, while Head made 38. However, the rest of the batting line-up failed to fire.

The Proteas will be hoping to build on their win in the fourth ODI and level the series. On the other hand, Australia will be looking to bounce back and won the series.
